    SMOKING AND HOME FIRES: Every year, almost 1,000 smokers and non-smokers are killed in home fires caused by cigarettes and other smoking materials. The U.S. Fire Administration is working to help prevent home fire deaths and injuries caused by smoking materials. Fires caused by cigarettes and other smoking materials are preventable.

    Lexington, NE Volunteer Fire Department

    Welcome to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department online.

    The Lexington Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer based organization that provides emergency fire suppression and emergency basic life support services for the City of Lexington and the Lexington Rural Fire District.  We currently provide emergency 911 response for a service area totaling more than 455 square miles.

    Our Mission:

    "Dedicated to protecting life and property in our community through professionally delivered fire prevention and emergency services."


    The dedication and commitment of our 40 volunteers enables us to respond to emergency situations with a number of well trained individuals at any time, day or night.  Our membership currently contains 25 certified EMT's, 9 certified SCUBA divers and 10 individuals certified at the level of Firefighter I or II.  We currently maintain and operate 11 fire and rescue service vehicles and average greater than 600 calls for service each year.

     

    We believe that service to our community is our reason for being and we strive to deliver quality services in a highly professional manner.
